Labo Coffee was dreamt up, founded, and is run by Aswin Rao (left) and Atharv Vohra (right). Our affair with coffee began back in university while we were supposed to be devoted to our computing science degrees. Instead, we were swept off our feet by the international students' beverage of choice: the Tim Hortons Iced Capp. One sip and… well, consider us caffeinated for life.

As time went on, Aswin took the plunge and bought an espresso machine, while Atty picked up a V60—thus marking the beginning of our descent into the delicious rabbit hole of specialty coffee. After countless James Hoffmann videos, Scott Rao blog deep dives, Lance Hedrick rants, and an embarrassing number of under- and over-extracted “experiments,” we were fully, irreversibly obsessed.

Before Labo came to life, Aswin was a Satellite Software Developer and Atty was crafting worlds as a Game Designer. Somewhere between caffeine highs and existential career chats, we began imagining a community-centric specialty coffee space—one where questions were welcome, curiosity was celebrated, and snobbery was strictly banned.

So, naturally, we yeeted our careers and created Labo: a cozy, cool third space where our community can enjoy specialty coffee without an ounce of judgment.
